a Pound of Flesh by Kimberly Raiser review

Another for the Why Buy The Cow Reading Challenge. This one from amazon still free but for amazon prime as I write this.

A free short story on amazon is something I expect to be light and fun. I don’t expect in 11 pages to be squirming in my seat wondering what will happen.

When a woman finds herself kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a car her experience is shocking and unpleasant to put it mildly. Her calm for the most part made me wonder where the story would go, on edge as I knew it had to lead to some big event and then when the twist came the supernatural twist made me squirm and had it been a movie I’d be sitting there with my hands over my eyes.

I can’t say it’s the greatest book because it isn’t but considering it’s free and 11 pages I have to salute the author for doing what many authors cannot in greater length. A must get from amazon if you see it available and as long as your expectations are reasonable this will hit the mark or most likely top them.

  1. I love the title’s reference to one of Shakespeare’s plays–Merchant of Venice, I believe. Or was it Merry Wives of Windsor?

    Anyway, it sounds interesting.

  2. Thanks for the honest review! This was one of those stories that makes your relatives uncomfortable to read!

Thanks for stopping by Kimberly it’s a great read for 11 pages though I’d be curious to read what your longer length stories are like with more time to dive in to the story and characters I bet you’d do a fantastic job.

  3. Wow, really? Only 11 pages and she manged to throw in a supernatural twist. I’m intrigued.

    Thanks for the review, Jess.

Kimberly did a great job when you take the length into consideration as I mentioned in reply to her comment I’d love to see what she can do with a longer book.
