Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Weight of Silence is one I heard about on some blogs. It looked great so I thought well now try that one out. I just got it from the library and as I have only just finished my last book I’m going with the opening lines.
Louis and I see you nearly at the same time. In the woods, through the bee trees whose heavy, sweet smell will forever remind me of this day, I see flashes of your pink summer nightgown that you wore to bed last night.
It happens quietly one August morning. As dawn’s shimmering light drenches the humid Iowa air, two families awaken to find their little girls have gone missing in the night.Seven-year-old Calli Clark is sweet, gentle, a dreamer who suffers from selective mutism brought on by tragedy that pulled her deep into silence as a toddler.Calli’s mother, Antonia, tried to be the best mother she could within the confines of marriage to a mostly absent, often angry husband. Now, though she denies that her husband could be involved in the possible abductions, she fears her decision to stay in her marriage has cost her more than her daughter’s voice.Petra Gregory is Calli’s best friend, her soul mate and her voice. But neither Petra nor Calli has been heard from since their disappearance was discovered. Desperate to find his child, Martin Gregory is forced to confront a side of himself he did not know existed beneath his intellectual, professorial demeanor. Now these families are tied by the question of what happened to their children. And the answer is trapped in the silence of unspoken family secrets.

sounds like a really good, intriguing read there. Families have way too many secrets sometimes… And, you seem to get the best books from the library, my library needs some refreshers I think. Anyhow, thanks for stopping by my TT

Great teaser and book cover.
I did read further to your book synopsis and can read about most things, unless it has to do with children. Tough — a parent’s worst nightmare. Thanks for stopping by today!
Alice Audrey
It leaves me wondering how long she’s been in the woods, and in what condition.

Hi Jessica,
It is always good when you find great recommendations for a new read and this sounds like it is set to be well worthwhile.
The cover and title are great and those first lines are really intriguing.
I was imagining all kinds of things, although adding the synopsis kind of forced me into a certain way of thinking … I do hope that i am not right about the outcome for the girls !!
Enjoy the book and thanks for sharing, this is a must for my reading list.
