Jess Resides Here Q&A with Sheila Roberts

Please tell me about yourself –
I live on a small lake here in the Pacific Northwest. Have three kids and one great husband. No pets at the moment – I have my hubby and he’s animal for me right now. Heehee.

Some favorite books and authors –
Jane Austen has to head the list. I also really enjoy Philippa Gregory. But my all-time favorite author is Donald E. Westlake, who wrote about bumbling crooks.

What are you reading now? –
I’m currently enjoying a book by my pal Gina Robinson, Diamonds Truly Are Forever.

How do you like to spend your time when not writing? –
I love to read, love to dance and play tennis and play games with my friends. Adore chick flicks.

You owned a singing telegram company once. Did you ever sing yourself and any funny stories from that time? -
I did all the singing myself when we first started – sang to Mickey Mouse on a destroyer when he came to Seattle. Sang to Roy Clark the country singer and got so busy gushing over him I almost forgot what I was there for. Probably the goofiest thing I ever did was sing at a St. Patty’s day snake race sponsored by a local Seattle radio station. Don’t know if the snakes appreciated it but I had fun.

What are your favorite foods to cook or bake? –
Cakes and cookies are my favs, but I’m also fabulous at pies (said she modestly).

Please tell us about Better Than Chocolate and is there really such a thing? -
Oh, probably not. I’m very excited about this book, which launches my new series, “Life in Icicle Falls.” I’ve got a heroine desperate to save the family chocolate factory, a small town in a slump, and a chocolate festival that has to be pulled together in record time – not an easy thing to do when swimming through red tape and facing mountain rock slides. And naturally our heroine’s archenemy, the bank manager who holds her fate in his hands, is determined to show her that there’s more to life than chocolate. I sure hope he can convince her!

What do we have to look forward to next? -
Watch for Merry Ex-mas, due out in November – a fun holiday tale of wives and their exes.
