I grew up in a small northern Minnesotan town married my high school sweetheart, had two beautiful children and as soon as we could we moved to a warmer climate. I have worked with my husband building and decorating custom homes for years.

After loving every kind of vampire book, movie and series since I was a child, I decided that I wanted to know more. I can write a book I thought, how hard could that be? Well…it was not as easy as I thought, but I stuck to it, and finished my first book Royal Blood Chronicles Book One in August 2009. I now have six books in the series and am about to release book two of my new series Phantom Lives.  My parents always told me that I could do anything that I wanted, work hard, and do it right. I believe that, and live that every day.

I started writing this new vampire series for teens and their moms because I wanted something different to read. I was tired of all the modern versions of vampire books, there had to be more to these long-lived beings. Where had they been, what had they seen? I wanted; no I NEEDED to know more, so Royal Blood Chronicles was born!  As in Royal Blood Chronicles, Phantom Lives features strong female characters and action and adventure mixed with romance, friendship and a historical backdrop. I hope you enjoy them.

A Menu of Dead by Lucy Pireel book blast and giveaway

Banner Small

Welcome to the A Menu of Death book blast. I’ve got a great giveaway to share and author Lucy Pireel has created a fun top 10 creatures she’d like to meet. I have a few of them on my own list. Who or what are on yours?

3D-MofD

Top Ten of creatures to meet
sentient zombie

A real vampire. I’d love to pick its brain for details on how the supposed rush of drinking a human’s blood really feels.

A ghost, just because I really, really want to know if there is life after this.

An ugly ass demon. What can I say? I have a morbid kind of curiosity. 🙂

A succubus, or incubus. I’m not fussed about the gender. I just want to learn a trick or two. Just to use in future books of course! Research, purely for research!

A serial killer with a twist. Again research 🙂 I want to know what makes such a mind tick.

A Trea, (read A Menu of Death) I’d like to ask how they will replant all the trees humanity has killed. If I get the chance that is.

A zombie! But I’ll have to keep my axe at hand for if its hunger gets out off control. (again read A Menu of Death)

A genie. Just because I’d like to make a wish of my own. 🙂

A victim turned victor. Again to get in the head of that person and find out how their mind worked at the moment they decided to change things around.

A dragon. Come on, be honest! Who wouldn’t want to meet a dragon and live to tell! 🙂

Underneath the veneer of humanity lies darkness. Eight deadly tales that explore dark desires in which some do what it takes to obtain what they want, while others are led by events. Wishes gone wrong, unhealthy obsessions, and cravings to sate. A Menu of Death will take you on a blood-curdling journey that you may not survive.

Losing Francesca By J. A. Huss

Expected Publication: July 1, 2013

Genre: Mature Young Adult Contemporary Romance

Francesca Sabatini came to America to take in the sights, celebrate her high school graduation, and have fun wasting time before college starts in the fall.

That’s not what happens.

Fresh off the plane and barely on American soil more than a handful of minutes, Francesca’s face is recognized by TSA scanners to be a match for a child who was kidnapped twelve years ago.

Brody Mason remembers the day Fiona Sullivan went missing during a family vacation in Italy and it’s haunted him his whole life. So when Francesca shows up at the Sullivan farm down the road, he’s compelled to figure out if this girl really is his long lost friend.

But Francesca knows she’s not Fiona Sullivan. She knows exactly who she is. At least she thinks she knows – until Brody Mason relentlessly pursues her and she begins to have feelings for him. Maybe being Fiona isn’t so bad?

Reality becomes blurred, secrets are revealed, and life will never be the same when the final questions are answered: Is she Francesca or Fiona? And where does she really belong?

Losing Francesca is a YA/NA crossover contemporary romance. 🙂

I lie back on the beach and put my hands behind my head. “So, we’re gonna spend the whole summer hanging out and I’m not allowed to get to know you even in the most basic and simple ways? Is that how this is gonna go, Fee?”She lies back next to me and turns on her side, her eyes searching mine. “Why do you insist that I am her? I’m not her, Brody. This fact will hurt you if you don’t accept it and I don’t want to hurt you. You’re nice, I like you, but I’m not that girl.”

“I want you to be her.” I tell her truthfully. “I so, so want you to be her, Francesca. I cannot even explain how much I want to talk to her again. How much I want to tell her about all the days we never shared, to tell her that I thought of her at the end of every single one of them and that I prayed to God for years, every night, on my fucking knees, that she’d come back. I want to give her the Fruit Roll-Up I brought to school that first day back after summer vacation. That stupid Fruit Roll-Up that I still have hidden away, because I had this faith as a kid. This unwavering faith that only a kid can have that one day my friend would be back. And when she finally showed up, I’d give her that stupid snack to show her how much I missed her. And to prove myself to her. Because that little girl was my soulmate.”

She frowns so deep it makes me hold my breath.

“I’m sorry,” I say, turning my head to stare up at the sky. “I shouldn’t tell you this stuff, I’m sorry.” I’m projecting, that’s what I’m doing. I want Francesca to be my Fee so bad I’m starting to believe it myself, even as she sits here and tells me straight up she’s not her.

Her hand touches my cheek and I look back over.

“You can ask me one question, but it can’t be about my other life.”

I laugh. “What good does that do me?”

“Well, you can ask about things, but not my family, or school, or the places I’ve lived.”

“Give me a for example, because I’m not seeing the difference.”

She sighs and turns away, biting on her thumbnail a little. “OK,” she says, turning back. “For example, I’ll ask you the first question and you answer, then I’ll answer the same question for you.”

I smile.

She chews on her bottom lip this time. Clearly she is nervous. “All right, tell me about the best day of your life.”

I sit up and stare down at her. “The best day of my life?”

She nods.

“Today, Fee. The best day of my life is today.”

15 Minutes by Jill Cooper book blast with giveaway

Paperback
Published June 15th 2013

I have 15 minutes to save my mother’s life….

15 minutes is all the Rewind Agency gives you in the past, but for Lara Crane it’s enough time to race through the city, find her mother, and stop her from being killed in a mugging that happened over ten years ago.

But that’s not how it happened. The story she’s been told all her life is a lie and when Lara takes a bullet meant for her mother, her future changes forever.

The love of her life acts like a stranger. Her simple life is replaced with a giant house, glamorous clothes and a new boyfriend.

Except someone knows her secret. And he will try to stop her at every turn as she races against the clock to unravel a dangerous conspiracy.

15 Minutes is an edgy high octane YA thriller that can be described as Back to the Future meets Inception where the people Lara trusts change in an instant. She is in a timeline she doesn’t understand, and is about to make one fatal mistake as she faces an enemy so familiar, he’s family.

Locker 63.My eyes sweep aisle after aisle until I find the one I’m looking for. It’s blue and unassuming, but it could unlock the secret to everything. I lick my lips as I insert the key, close my eyes, and with a prayer, twist.

Click.

The door opens, and inside I find more than documents. There’s also a pink hoodie, a duffle bag, and a fresh change of clothes.

What was I preparing for? What was I doing? I open the manila envelope on the bottom and flip through the documents—a lot of reports, surveillance photos, old newspaper clippings. I don’t have time to go through all of it now, so I stash them in my duffle bag and throw on some new clothes.

A tight-fitting t-shirt, pink hoodie, and comfortable blue jeans are my new outfit. It’s a weird choice for trendy, sophisticated Lara, but she was up to something big. Real big.

I lift the hidden duffle bag out of the locker, surprised at how hefty it is. I unzip it and find money inside. A lot of money. I touch it. Must be thousands of dollars bound together in neat little stacks.

My heart quickens as I wonder where it came from and what I was planning to do with it. If ever there was a moment for a flashback, it’s now. A shining blue cell phone at the bottom of the duffle bag catches my attention. I pull it out and see a note stuck to it. In my handwriting.

Hide in the shower. Move fast.

Wide eyed and with a pounding heart, I slam the locker, grab everything, and run down the hall. I turn into the showers and duck into a stall, the vinyl shower curtain flapping against me. I still it with trembling fingers as I hear heavy steps enter the locker room.

Especially when Macy has the sneaking suspicion that these dreams are reality…

Excerpts from Culture Shock by Jeanette Pekala

There were two guys and one girl. The girl had severely long red wavy hair and flawless fair skin. She was supermodel skinny. Heroin-addict supermodel skinny. Her back was to me so I couldn’t get a good look at her face.

The first boy was sitting next to her. His back also to me, but when I first caught them spying, I noticed something peculiar about this boy. He was wearing a black hoodie, with the drawstrings tied so tight, the hood was covering nearly his whole face. He had dark aviator glasses on and gloves. Seriously, it’s like ninety-something degrees outside. Why on earth would you wear gloves? His skin, what was showing of it anyways, was even paler than the girl’s.

We found a spot over by the water free of sawgrass. It was a beautiful view. On the back end of the lake was a dense forest. It was dark just beyond the first set of trees. That was the only end of the lake that had remained uninhabited. There was a syrupy mist rising slowly off the surface of the water. It was creepy, but romantic in a sinister way. The sights, sounds, and smells all mingled together to create a scene an artist would love to capture with the stroke of his brush.
