Spook House by Michael West book tour

I’m pleased to share an exclusive image that was created for Spook House by the amazingly talented Matt Perry.

I do appologize to Seventh Star Press and Michael West in particular for not having this post up on the day it should have been. Now that the move has been made I’ve been focused on getting many things done here so checking my email in the last couple days I didn’t do and as a result didn’t have the info needed. It should have been ready and scheduled quite a while back so again I am sorry for my error.

Michael West is a talented author who embrases the spooky and lucky for us his talents lie in an avenue where he can share that with us all. Check out Spook House and be spooked yourself.

Exclusive to the hardcover edition the bonus image for Spook House by artist Matt Perry

There are some places in this world that go far beyond any normal definition of “haunted.” These places are so evil, so diabolical, that they become gateways to Hell itself. The Fuller Farm is one such place.

It is said that old man Fuller conducted unspeakable acts, blood rituals and human sacrifices, all in an attempt to gain the ultimate knowledge, the ultimate power. And then, he was killed–horribly murdered on his own lands, leaving the house to stand as a vacant monument to his wickedness. But once a door is opened, it can never really be closed.

Now, the stars are right. The gateway is ready to once more unleash unspeakable horror upon the town of Harmony, Indiana. And this will be one Halloween that they will never forget!

Michael West is a member of the Horror Writers Association and Indiana Horror Writers, where he serves as President. A graduate of Indiana University, West earned a degree in Telecommunications and Film Theory, and since that time, he has written a multitude of short stories, articles, and reviews for various on-line and print publications. He lives and works in the Indianapolis area with his wife, their two children, their bird, Rodan, their turtle, Gamera, and their dog, King Seesar.

His children are convinced that spirits move through the woods near their home.
West’s short story “Goodnight,” originally published in WICKED KARNIVAL #6, was named “Best Horror Short Story of 2005” in the P&E Readers Poll.

Poseidon’s Children by Michael West review

Man no longer worships the old gods; forgotten and forsaken, they have become nothing more than myth and legend. But all that is about to change. After the ruins of a vast, ancient civilization are

discovered on the ocean floor, Coast Guard officers find a series of derelict ships drifting in the current–high-priced yachts and leaking fishing boats, all ransacked, splattered in blood, their crews missing and presumed dead.

And that’s just the beginning.

Vacationing artist Larry Neuhaus has just witnessed a gruesome shark attack, a young couple torn apart right before his eyes … at least, he thinks it was a shark. And when one of these victims turns out to be the only son of Roger Hays, the most powerful man in the country, things go from bad to worse. Now, to stop the carnage,Larry and his new-found friends must work together to unravel a mystery as old as time, and face an enemy as dark as the ocean depths.

I love how Michael took history and myth that we are all familiar with and incorporated it in his story in a new way. There are many legends about Poseidon god of the sea and Michael has created one that is elaborate and entertaining.

It took me a little while to get into the story I can’t say why this was as the story was good but guessing due to all the personal stuff I have going on but as I kept reading and the action started I realized one day that I had chewed half a nail off and that’s when I had that moment of ohhhhh it’s grabbed me hook, line and sinker. < Book related joke there. Hmm okay I’m not a comedian what can I say.

The book starts off with a legendary city being found and then boats turning up with no people on board but lots of blood and gore. What happened on board and who is responsible? How does it all tie in with Larry who while vacationing on an island in New England witnesses what appears to be a shark attack. When it’s discovered that the victims of the attack were the son of a mobster billionaire and his girlfriend you have angry vengeful dad and his friends coming to town.

Once the action started I was sucked in. It is a great tale with action, adventure, revenge, drama, mythology and the wildest sex scene I’ve ever read. Seventh Star Press should consider an erotic imprint as Michael West knows how to write a steamy scene even when one of those involved has gills. The horror had me biting my nails, the sex scene had me fanning my face and the story had me absorbed. A great book that I highly recommend.

The first in an urban fantasy series The Legacy of the Gods looks to be a fantastic fun series and I am already looking forward to the next book.

Here are just a couple of my fave quotes from the book. I had many but thought it best to narrow them down.

Duct tape. Like the force in Star Wars: it had a dark side, a light side, and it bound the universe together.

Satisfied, Larry ran to his clothes, his balls flapping madly.

Free book days

Free my favorite price yeah yeah I’m cheap. Don’t look at me like that if you’re reading this then so are you. It’s okay being awesome is a good thing.

Today I’m sharing about two great books available on amazon for free last day is today. Both from my friends at Seventh Star Press.

Cinema of Shadows by Michael West is a fun horror read. Scare the pants off you and entertain you all at once. You can’t beat that. Free on amazon so get it today

Welcome to the Woodfield Movie Palace. The night the Titanic sank, it opened for business…and its builder died in his chair. In the 1950s, there was a fire; a balcony full of people burned to death. And years later, when it became the scene of one of Harmony, Indiana’s most notorious murders, it closed for good. Abandoned, sealed, locked up tight…until now. Tonight, Professor Geoffrey Burke and his Parapsychology students have come to the Woodfield in search of evidence, hoping to find irrefutable proof of a haunting. Instead, they will discover that, in this theater, the terrors are not confined to the screen.

The Exodus Gate by Stephen Zimmer some excellent urban fantasy to read. Entertainment and a brainy story. Great reads both and free on amazon so be sure to get them

The Exodus Gate is the first book of a sweeping, epic-scale urban fantasy series with dystopian and apocalyptic themes from the imagination of Stephen Zimmer.

The Rising Dawn Saga begins with a prologue that calls to mind the imagery of Milton’s Paradise Lost, and then introduces Benedict Darwin, the host of a popular late night radio show dealing with the paranormal and the things of myth, legend, and conspiracy. Benedict comes into possession of a virtual reality simulator that turns out to be something far greater, and far more dangerous than he ever expected.

Supernatural powers from the Abyss are aiding humans at the heights of political and economic power in a centuries-old movement called The Convergence. It is focused on bringing the world under one political and economic authority, one that erases borders between nations and governs all populations across the world.

A tale of courage, hope, and adventure, with fantastical realms and exotic characters, The Exodus Gate is a unique story that blends fantasy, science fiction, the paranormal, horror, and military thriller elements into a powerful voice within the realms of urban fantasy.
